February 15, 2011— Icelandic Water Holdings ehf, makers of the award-winning,CarbonNeutral® premium natural spring water Icelandic Glacial, announced today a partnership with Voilà to provide 160 tons of water to aid in Haiti’s Earthquake relief efforts. This marks the fourth major donation from Icelandic Glacial, totaling 440 tons of water and nearly one million dollars of product value that have been provided by the company’s “Water For Life” foundation. The water will be distributed by Voilà to beneficiaries in tent camps operated by Yele Haiti, Partners in Health and J/P HRO.
“With the outbreak of cholera and the recent one-year anniversary of the tragic earthquake, it is more important now then ever before for us to help with aid in Haiti as the residents continue to pick-up the pieces of their shattered homes and lives,” says Jon Olafsson, chairman and co-founder, Icelandic Glacial. “Icelandic Glacial is proud to partner with Voilà and leverage their expertise in Haiti to help ensure it reaches the people in need.”
Both Icelandic Glacial and Voilà have made an ongoing commitment to provide clean and safe drinking water to the people of Haiti. In January 2010, Icelandic Glacial water was the first water to arrive on the ground with the Iceland Search & Rescue Team following the devastating earthquake. Through Voilà’s water truck program, the company has donated nearly a million gallons of water to tent camps throughout Port-au-Prince and Leogane, with regularly scheduled routes running seven days a week over the past year.
“A year after the earthquake, the people of Haiti are still struggling to have even their most basic needs met,” said Robin Padberg, CEO of Voilà. “We applaud Icelandic Glacial’s continued support, generosity, and commitment and we’re proud to be their ‘on the ground’ partner to get the water where it needs to be.”
Renowned for its award winning bottle design, exceptional purity and environmental credentials, Icelandic Glacial is bottled at the source from the legendary Ölfus Spring in Iceland to provide customers with a product of the very highest quality. As a result, Icelandic Glacial is one of the fastest-growing super-premium bottled water in the United States.
