May 12, 2016 – Montreal, QC– Icelandic Glacial™ announced today that they will be donating over 40,000 bottles of water to help those affected by the Fort McMurray fire disaster. Through a partnership with Unique Foods, Icelandic Glacial’s Canadian distributor, the water is expected to arrive by Monday, May 16th.
Last week, authorities evacuated approximately 88,000 people and a state of emergency was declared after natural fires devastated the entire city of Fort McMurray and nearby areas. Icelandic Glacial water will be provided to specific relief shelters which have been set up in schools, hockey rinks, and other makeshift relief centres. Additionally, the water will also be given directly to firefighters, police, first responders and those working for the Red Cross.
Icelandic Glacial is committed to helping those in need and has made similar donations in the past. Most recently, they partnered with Cher to support the people of Flint, Michigan, and in 2010, they donated water to the people of Haiti to combat cholera.
