Icelandic Glacial Continues Commitment to Haiti with $500,000 Water Donation

OLFUS, Iceland (January 20, 2010) — Continuing its commitment to relief efforts in Haiti,Icelandic Water Holdings ehf, makers of the award-winning CarbonNeutral® natural spring water Icelandic Glacial, announced today that the company has donated more than 300,000 bottles – or 230 metric tons – of water to aid earthquake victims. Icelandic Glacial’s donation is equivalent to just over one bottle of water from each person in Iceland.

This announcement comes on the heels of Icelandic Glacial’s first-on-the-ground three-ton water donation delivered by Iceland’s Search and Rescue Team (ICE-SAR) last week.

The $500,000 super-premium water donation was made to Operation Blessing International and other relief agencies and will be shipped, with the help of PCI of Virginia, LLC from Norfolk, Virginia, to Port-au-Prince by the USNS Sacagawea and U.S. Navy helicopters.

“Icelandic Glacial has made a commitment not only to sell the purest water but to give it to the world when it’s needed. We are pleased to be able to share one of Iceland’s best natural resources with the people of Haiti,” said Jon Olafsson, chairman and co-founder, Icelandic Glacial.

Icelandic Glacial ships water from Iceland to the United States with shipping company Eimskip USA, using its distribution center at the Port of Richmond. Eimskip coordinated moving the water bottles into containers and transporting to the Military Sealift Command in Norfolk where the cases of Icelandic Glacial water will depart for Haiti this week.
