Icelandic Glacial wins top honours at 2005 Bottled Water World Design Awards

Last night signalled a major triumph for Icelandic Glacial, by winning Best Label and the most coveted Best Overall Concept award at the Zenith International, Bottled Water World Design Awards.

The result signals a major step for Icelandic Glacial as it continues to impress on the World Stage, and expand its distribution and presence in key target markets.

The awards, which were staged at the Second Global Bottled Water Congress in Dubai, attracted 113 entries from 24 countries and in the face of stiff competition from major international brands, Icelandic Glacial were the only company to be nominated in three separate categories; the third nomination being for Best Packaging Innovation, where Icelandic Glacial finished as runner up to Nestle Nigeria’s ‘Pure Life’ concept.

Judging took place in London last month, bringing together different perspectives and expert opinions on each entrant. The independent panel comprising of representatives from Dutch Design Agency, Claessens Product Consultants, R&D Tool and Engineering (this years event sponsor), as well as technical experts and features editor’s from bottledwaterworld.

Bill Bruce, Managing Editor and Chairman of the judging panel commented on the overall entrants that, “there are of course challenges in judging entries that span such a range of countries and cultures? but we are looking at products within a market context, judging them on their design, marketing and concept and above all their fitness for purpose”.
