November 20, 2013 – Icelandic Glacial™, award-winning, premium natural spring water from Iceland, announced today that it was named “Best in PET” at the Gala Awards Dinner during Zenith International’s Global Bottled Water Congress in Nashville, TN.

“We are honored to accept this award.  The Icelandic Glacial team works diligently to create a product that truly reflects the raw, natural beauty of Iceland.  We aim to provide consumers with a taste of Iceland that is reflected in our packaging,” commented Jon Olafsson, chairman and co-founder, Icelandic Glacial™.  “This award further reinforces how we stand out in our industry, and continue to deliver a distinctive experience to consumers that will help us continue to grow our brand internationally.”

The 2013 Global Bottled Water Awards recognized a range of categories that demonstrate new ideas and best practices in the international packaged water industry.  Winners were selected by a panel of judges comprised of industry experts from Zenith International and FoodBev Media, among others.

Icelandic Glacial’s™ polyethylene terephthalate style-bottles won the award for the overall best bottle and packaging in the PET category.  Judging criteria was based on products that offered added value, had market impact, are fit for purpose, support claims made, are innovative, and provide improved consumer convenience and ease of use.  Additionally, judges looked for packaging that stands out through excellent and original designs and sustainability initiatives that create measurable environmental benefits.

“Everything about the Icelandic bottle enhances the expectation and experience. Its design and colouring combine the key characteristics of natural, frosty and clear,” commented Richard Hall, Chairman, Zenith International.

This honor comes on the heels of Icelandic Glacial™ expanding global distribution into several European markets, including the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Ukraine.
